Yes - best to shoot outside of the training window (~2-3 hrs). When I tested the acute effects with a Dexcom CGM last year, was shocked at the suppression of the peak in postprandial blood glucose. Prior to a training session, that can cause us to take a hit in performance - especially resistance training/HIIT.
Also the main reason I avoid during bulk/hypertrophy phases. There have been a few animal model papers (db/db mice) published where they've found it can impair muscle metabolism. In *mice* (why I avoid discussing here), but mechanistically it can reduce muscle protein synthesis by stimulating a catabolic enzyme - atrogin-1.
